World in Progress
Adjacent to the world of Adra is another, wilder realm known as the wild lands or the fey wild. Those who live within there, however, prefer to call their home Sylvanis. Like two sides of a mirror, both realms coexist side-by-side and cannot exist without each other. Unlike a mirror, however, the reflection Sylvanis casts is often a far-stranger and fantastical one. A verdant grove of trees that grows on Adra might be replaced by a forest of gigantic crystaline spires. A lake and river in the plains of Adra could constantly shift form and reverse direction.
The flora and fauna of Sylvanis is also vastly different. Strange creatures like manticores, hippogriffs and other magic beasts are common here, and it is not unheard of to encounter animals that can speak as clear as a human. One thing is certain, however. Sylvanis is no place for Adra-born. All of Sylvanis is a hostile realm, and a Traveller is just as likely to be carried off by a coatl in Summer Court lands as they are likely to encounter a nightmare in Winter Court lands.
Time does not pass in Sylvanis as it does in Adra. Indeed, a Traveller can spend five minutes in the wilderness and emerge in Adra 60 or 100 years later. This apparent flow of time is not even consistent within Sylvanis. A Traveller could witness the birth of a child in the morning, return midday to see the baby grown and mature, and witness his death as an old man by evening.
